I have painted a juvenile Bateleur Eagle (Terathopius ecaudatus) they are an endangered species native to Africa. I was inspired by a photograph taken by my brother, he is an ornithologist, who experiences anxiety issues that geographically limit the birds he can see. This beautiful bird was bred in captivity. Bateleur comes from the French for 'tightrope-walker', which I feel is quite apt for an endangered species whose future is hanging in the balance.

I am an artist who loves combining art with nature. This year I started painting more often and I have focussed on producing detailed acrylic painting of birds and wildlife. I paint portraits in an attempt to capture both their natural form and the disposition of the animal or bird.
