I love orangutans, they are fascinating creatures that are always in the topic of conversation about extinction. When I was deciding on what animal to paint, an article appeared on my phone that day about the threat of Tapanuli Orangutans. Due to these animals being killed, captured or translocated the Tapanuli Orangutan could be the first great ape species to go extinct in modern times, with no more than 800 of them in existence.
