There are only 7 species of sea turtles world wide and six of the seven are classified as threatened or endangered due to human actions. Plastic and fishing gear is one of the major reasons why sea turtles die! They get entangled in fishing nets or eat plastic pieces which they have mistaken for their food! When I first started researching plastic pollution and sea turtles the images left me in bits. I was so sad that human behavior can leave such devastating results to wild life. Sea Turtles are not only threated by plastic pollution but also by other human behavior such as egg consumption. "Every egg counts. Everyone's choice makes a difference" Let's say no to sea turtle egg consumption. I also protect sea turtles in my lastest book #diamondsheartsandseastars to raise awareness of the threats they are facing and how everyone can protect them.

Multi-award-winning children's book author and artist, Janina Rossiter brings her passions together in her work. Inspiring the next generation of conservationists, her books are captivating tales of the Ocean that explore marine creatures and the problems they face. As an artist, she feels happiest when recreating scenes of the ocean in her paintings. “I hope that through my art and my love of the sea, I can make my voice heard and make a difference." As an illustrator and author, Janina was inspired to write "Diamonds, Hearts & Sea Stars!" and "123 Who's Cleaning the Sea?" because of her concerns for our environment. She is passionate about fighting climate change, protecting nature and keeping the oceans free from plastic and other pollutants. Our future depends on our actions today.
